•Metaphors or fantasies might give your simulation a nice feel, but they must be realistic or you will lose your audience.
•Forcing a quick decision from the trainee will keep them interested.  A simulated negotiation, for example, will teach students when to wait and when to make offers.
•The more options, the deeper the person can learn.  If you hit a wall too early, the game is over.  The learning is over also.
•The simulation should provide a rich number of scenarios and be easy to return to the beginning if the trainee does hit a wall.  You must be able to reset the game and not have to press Cntl+alt+delete to get out.
•Simulators cost lots of money.  They provide the user the ability to customize their learning environment for the way they learn and for the situations that they need to practice.
