The virtual presentation of the patient and the surrounding area are representative of the intensity and gravity of the ER situation.  The lighting, available equipment, patient’s appearance, background noise, and in room sounds intensify based on the condition of the patient.  This allows the realism needed to simulate a life and death situation.

As needed the trainee can turn the patient and view the equipment placed in the room.  Monitors can be viewed to show the patient’s vital signs.  Nurses respond to voice commands or to those given through a series of menus.  Drugs can be administered.

Animation of the patient shows response to the various treatment given.  This animation might show labored breathing or writhing.

All aspects of the 3-D environment are used to provide as much realism as possible.
