GPS greatly eases
the task of building computer models for certain types of discrete-event
simulations. It lends itself particularly to modeling systems in which
discrete units of traffic compete for scarce resources. GPSS has been applied
to the modeling of manufacturing systems, communication systems, computer
systems, transportation systems, health care systems. It has also been used
in chemical engineering, mining engineering, and cancer research.

Only seven
statements are required to model a one-line, one-server queuing system in
GPSS. Beginners can learn quickly how to use it.

Can be used on a
variety of systems: MicroVAX I, MicroVAX 2, MicroVAX 3, Apollo, Optimum 5/10,
Optimum V, IRIS, IRIS Turbo, Sun 3, IBM PC etc.
