Simulation – Medical Education as a Model for Simulation Education
•Two models of simulation application – research model and practice model
•Parallel between medical education and simulation education
•Curriculum proposal
•Basic course work – mathematics, statistics, probability, stochastic models, optimization and simulation modeling
•Additional coursework – accounting, business management, marketing, logistics, Info Systems management, computing, communication and technical writing

Two broad classes of simulation practitioners – simulation software developers (research model) and problem solvers who use simulation (practice model)

Both medical education and simulation education require the student to perform certain tasks, after acquiring an extensive knowledge (the patient in the case of the doctor, or the system to be modeled and simulated in the case of the engineer).

Basic coursework – foundations of decision modeling. These courses should focus on applied problem solving using the models rather than derivations.
Additional coursework – all students should have enough coverage to feel comfortable dealing with non-technical management in businesses and other organizations
